Overview

I am the Product Owner for the multibrand onboard trucks design system, which provides a consistent design framework for digital products inside Volvo's trucks. The system is also being developed with the vision to support other business areas, such as Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Buses, and Volvo Penta. My role focuses on defining the roadmap, managing the backlog, and guiding the delivery team, while balancing coordination across multiple brands and product teams.


The Users

The primary users are designers, developers, and product teams across Volvo’s various brands who need a unified system to build digital interfaces for trucks and related products. The system helps them create brand aligned, consistent, efficient, and user-friendly experiences without starting from scratch for each brand.


My Role

I define the product vision and roadmap for the design system and manage the backlog for our team. Since our team does not have a dedicated Scrum Master, I also take on that role, facilitating through sprints ceremonies and ensuring smooth delivery. To align multiple brands and product teams, I create routines, build bridges between teams, run workshops, and discuss shared roadmaps to make sure we are moving in the same direction.


Results

Apart from higher long-term ROI for the company by reducing product development costs, the work has created a more aligned and efficient approach to building digital interfaces across Volvo brands. Teams can deliver faster, with fewer errors, and designers have clear guidelines for consistent experiences. The system is ongoing and evolving, but early results show better cross-functional collaboration and a stronger foundation for future product growth.
